Professional Race Car Driver Alexis DeJoria Stops by the Famed Gino’s East ahead of the K&N Filters Route 66 NHRA Nationals, at Route 66 Raceway

WHO: NHRA Drag Racer Alexis DeJoria is a top ten-ranked driver and four-time event winner competing in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. DeJoria drives her Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car at speeds of over 330-mph, making her one of the fastest women in the world. She is one of just two women competing in the NHRA’s ultra-competitive Funny Car class.

WHAT: DeJoria will join Jordan Himmel of the renowned Gino’s East, in the kitchen of the Chicago pizza institution’s flagship location and learn how to make a traditional Chicago-style deep dish pizza. In return, DeJoria will teach Himmel how to make her version of a perfect Patrón margarita. After, DeJoria will sign autographs and meet with fans in attendance at Gino’s East.

WHY: The pizza-making event will serve as an unofficial kickoff to DeJoria’s weekend at the K&N Filters Route 66 NHRA Nationals (July 8-10), at which DeJoria is scheduled to compete. The fan-favorite event at Route 66 Raceway, located at Chicagoland Speedway, just south of Chicago, marks the official start to the second half of the 24-race 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season.

VISUALS: DeJoria will be decked out in her Tequila Patrón racing crew shirt. With instruction from Himmel, DeJoria will put her culinary skills to the test while she learns how-to make the quintessential Chicago-style deep dish pizza that Gino’s East is famous for. She will then get behind the bar at the iconic eatery and teach Himmel how she makes her ‘perfect’ Patrón margarita.
