Alexis DeJoria: Driver of the Kalitta Motorsports Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry Funny Car
Qualified:
No. 4 (3.887 E.T. at 324.67 MPH)
The Results:
- E1: DQ (center line) defeated by John Bojec 4.059 E.T. at 308.78 MPH
Quotable: Alexis DeJoria, Driver
We did really well in qualifying, having made four consistent runs. We went out there today and the first part of our run was good. It seemed like we had it in the bag. Then, my Patrón Camry smoked the tires in the middle of the track. I pedaled it well, picked up the front end and ended up clipping a cone. My opponent made a solid pass- a 4.05- so as good of a pedal job as I did, it’s hard to beat someone who’s making a full pass.
We tried really hard and it just fuels our fire. The loss makes us hungrier for wins, and we need to turn it around for our next race in St. Louis. I know we can. We’re a damn good team and we’ve got a very good car right now.
