Race Recap:
Teams experienced some of the hottest weather conditions of the season on race day, and co-crew chiefs Nicky Boninfante and Tommy DeLago were prepared. DeJoria easily drove to a first round win in her Tequila Patrón Toyota Camry while her opponent, Tim Wilkerson, struggled to get down the hot track. Unfortunately, Team Patrón was unable to turn on another win light in the second round against reigning Funny Car world champion Ron Capps. Her car dropped a cylinder, forcing her Camry over the center line, resulting in a disqualification. Despite the tough loss, DeJoria was able to gain on her goal of returning to the Top 10, as she cut the margin to 79 points.

Quotable:
Alexis DeJoria, Driver
I don’t really have a lot to say right now. In fact, I’m trying not to say too much. Unfortunate way to lose second round. We could have gone to the semifinals today but it just didn’t work out that way.

We’re a good team; I’m a good driver. We’ve got this, and we’re looking forward to the next race.
